Services
All of the services that I offer incorporate the same positive, reward based training methods. I work with dog owners helping them to understand how the dogs mind works, to read canine body language and how to communicate with their pet effectively. This will help pet owners to lead their dogs in a kind non-confrontational way, preventing potential behaviour issues and solving unwanted problems. I believe that training your dog should be an enjoyable experience for your whole family – including those with four legs!
1-2-1 Dog Training & Behaviour Modification
1-2-1 training is available for a wide variety of your requirements. If the time of our puppy and training classes are not convenient for you then all information and training shared during classes can be provided on a personal basis, including the training booklet that I have written to accompany the training class courses. Classes are not ideal for every dog, some are fearful or antisocial, I can work with these dogs in your home or at my training venue on an individual basis. Issues that we can cover include heelwork, re-call training, familiarisation, jumping up, chewing, mouthing, sit, down, stay, separation anxiety, aggression and antisocial behaviour. A training plan will be tailor made for you and your dog and full support will be given.
1-2-1 Training costs £40 per hour or £60 for an hour and a half.
Advice Before You Get Your Dog
There are so many choices to make, where to get your dog from, what type of dog to get, what equipment you will need. I can give you the information that you need to get you started.
This service costs £40 per hour.
All of my training classes run on a Saturday morning, each course runs for six weeks, with each session lasting for an hour. Class sizes are kept small so that you and your dog get the attention that you deserve, you will receive a complimentary copy of the booklet that I have written to accompany the course. I do encourage the whole family to get involved in these fun classes. The classes are split into age groups of 12 weeks to 6 months (puppy class) & 6 months and over (basic obedience). There is also an intermediate course that teaches the next level of skills, following on from either the puppy or basic class. Only dogs that have completed a previous class or 1-2-1 with me are invited to join the intermediate course.
Training covered in my classes include heelwork, recall, sit, down, housetraining, jumping up, chewing, grooming, mouthing, appropriate play, stay, wait, leave it and so much more. I do welcome potential new customers to watch the classes in action before joining. The venue is the Methodist Church Hall, High Street, Standish, WN6 0HA. The classes run throughout the year, so give me a call or email to find out dates of the class that will suit you.
Puppy Package
The first few weeks of puppy ownership, when your new puppy is not vaccinated and can’t go out, can be quite hard work. This package is designed to help you through those first weeks and get your routine in place.
The puppy package consists of two separate 1-hour sessions. In that time I will help you with housetraining and crate training, feeding routine, how long your puppy can be left for, bed time routine, collar and lead, the beginning of heelwork, socialisation, re-call training, first commands, your puppy with children, safe travel, grooming and handling your puppy, mouthing, chewing and more.
This package costs £60 for both 1-hour sessions and also includes a discount for my basic obedience classes should you like to attend with your puppy. You will also be provided with informative handouts to help your new routine take shape.
Agility
My dog agility club is a fun club that runs throughout the year on a Sunday evening. I’m very lucky to have the use of an indoor equestrian centre, so we can continue training whatever the weather! We begin with a pre-agility course, this teaches the foundation skills required for the sport of agility. Once the pre-agility course has been completed everyone is invited to join the agility club which runs in six week terms through the whole year. Agility is great for physical exersise for dog and owner, it provides fantastic mental stimulation for dogs, builds confidence in canines & humans alike and most owners see an improvement in their relationship with their dog when they are working together as a team and having fun. Agility classes are based at Parbold Equestrain Centre, Bradshaw Lane, Parbold, WN8 7NQ, feel free to come along and watch before you join!
Pre-agility costs £60 for the six week course, agility club costs £48 for a six week term. Each session lasts for 45 minutes.
